This is pure fun in the form of digital paintography rendered in this expressive abstract piece from a photo of an olive!! ... one very large olive ... that caught my attention one sunny afternoon right here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina.

The visual story takes that image further asking what would it look like at sunset here in the mountains---a flight of fancy that might make one smile out loud-- In any case, the image boldly proclaims the challenges of the fraught process of selection we—each of us-- face every day—that being the opportunity to practice making good choices ...

Symbolism: As you know, the olive branch is known as a symbol of peace. It was St Augustine who wrote "perpetual peace is indicated by the olive branch which the dove brought with it when it returned to the ark." And, olive oil has been considered sacred, olive branches symbolic of abundance and many blessings. The olive itself symbolizes wisdom, fertility, power, and purity.

A huge olive ( AH LUV YA-I love you) is a smile in full color sending a bright message of pure delight, romance, earthiness and joy... a smile and a nod to the colorful olive itself as it boldly portrays metaphor, whimsy and humor.

Method: : I create from what is around me. I translate photos into mixed media often abstract expressionist digital renderings such as you see in this piece. I reach out for the story or metaphor to share in a narrative via texture, patterns, repetition that meet in the feeling of collage.
