Description
"AJIJIC PARADISE- No. 2 " is photo-art a combination of an incredible photo taken by dear friends at their sanctuary in Ajijic, Mexico and enhanced using digital rendering techniques back at my studio in Asheville, North Carolina.
This bold and colorful abstract expressionist piece reminds me very much of the photographer, herself. It is an interpretation of an outer and an inner landscape, contemporaneously.

THANK YOU for looking and considering my art work and images. Your time and your comments are prized! I appreciate your comments, social media support,

In this piece, the challenge was to create a persistent focus on patterns and/or the bold use of a limited or unusual color palette to tell a story. As a result, this narrative art in new media mixed media format – ( combinations of pencil, ink, paint, photo work and textured applications) – often unfolds in a “collage” of color and texture. Whether on paper, canvas, or as a digital rendering, the result is “contemporary mixed media art” that celebrates nature with a nod to joie de vivre.
Again, the inspiration for this piece was a photo of Val-Wen's Place .Through digital manipulation of that scanned original photo this image- ( not representative or accurate)- seeks to highlight Essence by moving into shapes, colors, forms, textures, layering and the overall gestalt.
This is also a modern mixed media piece where the hope is to achieve a remarkable narrative, a visual effect, and glimpses of reality touched with magical bits - from unusual perspectives.
As always, the image-making is prompted by nature.
PHILOSOPHY: “NOT AN IMAGE BUT AN EXPERIENCE”-- As we - each of us- (and as a collection of living creatures) - face the fraught process of selection every day- may we find what is positive and possible.
"Perception is everything in art. The artist goal is to influence the viewer to see the world as the artist does. This can change the viewers mood, their mind, their outlook - even if only for a limited time." Lutz Baar
SYMBOLISM:: In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of color with changing light symbolizes positive change through envisioning creative perspectives. Here the story of longing for connection highlights an impetus for change with compassion.
