Description

ANCHORED is a post painterly abstract expressionist piece. It began as a photo of a beautiful sailboat anchored safely in the Friday Harbor, Washington State, USA, It is dedicated to Jeremy Watney who sailed alone across the Pacific Ocean and weathered the storm to anchor safely in Friday Harbor.

The piece evolved in my studio here in Asheville, North Carolina. It continues the thread of interest in nature that runs through what I paint on canvas, or on paper, or in a digital way- the fraught process of selection we—each of us-- face every day—that being the choice to look for beauty and possibility in what is around us

Theme and Symbolism: : In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of rich aqua to cyan color with changing light symbolizes positive change through envisioning different perspectives. Here is a metaphor or symbol where the wall represents persistence and the strength with compassion.
