"Another Day, Another Dance" No.7

This is "Another Day, Another Dance" No 7- . It is a mixed media- digital piece that evolved from computer/digital rendering here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina. This series, an example of contemporary digital art or "New Media Art,” reveals renderings derived purely from imagination. The intention is to bring joie de vivre to the viewer and collector.

Story: : Here is the history (herstory) of a woman as she dances through life.Here she appears in the velvety tones of full womanhood. She is not a typical person, obviously, but a creative, compassionate person able to find unity in diversity (as her color choices indicate.) .. and as “Her Story” unfolds. . This series depicts a particular female figure from youth to motherhood ... and beyond. ... .

I create visual narratives reaching out for the story and metaphor in a visual narrative via texture, patterns, repetition that meet in a feeling of lyrical abstraction. These elements offer a sense of coming together - a collection of concepts and forms that take shape. (Hint: Look for hidden visual elements. )

Theme and Symbolism: : In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of hues and/or bits of color symbolizes positive change through the unfolding of awareness. This is a theme that runs through what I paint on canvas, or on paper, or in a digital way. I use texture and layering to create the effect of movement in a positive direction. The prevalent –and very colorful- theme in this series refers to social, cultural and or individual challenges.

Method:: Abstract –Expressionism- Digital New Media Art - Interpretations of outer/inner landscapes with a persistent focus on patterns and bold or unusual color. Photo and digital manipulation not necessarily an accurate interpretation, but instead seeking to explore the essence of the subject by moving into shapes, colors, forms, textures, layering and the overall gestalt to achieve an effect. Glimpses of reality from unusual perspectives. Image-making prompted by nature.
