"Black Cat Violet Moon"

Inspired by Valerie's cat, this piece captures that "mystical relationship" between felines and the MOON and is SYMBOLIC of all the is possible when we follow his example and dare to explore beyond the usual. It began as a photo of poet-friend's black cat and the adaptation of that photo to contemporary -abstract figurative paintography art via a thread of interest in all living things. This thread runs through what I paint on canvas, or on paper, or in a digital way.

The visual story of this cat in silhouette chasing his dreams and interests emphasizes The Fraught Process of Selection we -- each of us --face every day. If this black cat is looking beyond the ordinary, you may see it as symbolic of the many choices we make and the adventures we can enjoy when we dare to chase the light fantastic.

You may recognize influences- from Figurative to Lyrical Abstraction- but certainly, I create from what is around me, or from an inner landscape arrived on a journey with an insistent muse and a photo hunt. I translate the photo into mixed media format, reaching out for the story or metaphor with digital manipulation to create the narrative as texture, patterns, repetition and geometric bits meet.

In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of black and cyan with that bit of violet or lavender in the changing light of the moon rising symbolizes positive change -- envisioning different perspectives. Each of the images in the Cats Zsanan series bases its message on the concept of Change with Compassion.
