Description
TO SET AFLOAT No. 4 “STRANGE FRUIT” came to life here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina, USA. This is a dreamscape (inner landscape.) It is Fusion-Collage-Paintography ( an assemblage to digital) that offers space as narrative art that explores an unfolding story and symbolizes change with compassion.

Out of the Ordinary
This portrait for Black History Month- is a tribute to songstress BILLIE HOLIDAY who conceived a novel way of manipulating phrasing and tempo and influenced more than a generation of musicians and fans. She "set afloat" a new approach to the art form that underscores vocal delivery and improvisation.
This image takes elements from my painted canvas, includes bits from photos, and highlights Lady Day's love of gardenias which she regularly wore in her hair.
