“Bon Nuit Amour”

This is whimsical abstract paintography - a digital rendering from my original photography of a few colorful wildflowers as viewed from studio here in Asheville, North Carolina. This contemporary paintography art continues the thread of interest in nature. It runs through what I paint on canvas, or on paper, or with software in any number of remarkable ways.

The visual story emphasizes the fraught process of selection we—each of us-- face every day—that being the choice to feel the comfort of love, beauty and possibility in what is around us.

Theme and Symbolism: : In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of color with changing light symbolizes positive change through envisioning different perspectives.

Story and Method: : This image is part of a series of Funny, Fantastic and Fun explorations. This series of graphics arrived one LATE night as I was working out a way to convey a message of solidarity where gentle humor somehow softens a life situation that is challenging. I wondered... how can one artist reach out to provide a "light moment" in times of distress? The bold and silly characters responded.

While this image may have been created in response to the distress of a viewers tell me that they have found it appropriate for many(not to serious) occasions. This little bouquet might brighten anyone's day. Get one for yourself, or give it away.

I create from what is around me. I translate photos into mixed media often abstract expressionist digital renderings such as you see in this piece. I reach out for the story or metaphor to share in a narrative via texture, patterns, repetition that meet in the feeling of collage.
