HER JUMP ROPE -Finding Balance
“This artwork was created using Neurographic Art techniques as developed by Pavel Piskarev in 2014.”
As many people say, it is not always easy to keep your balance in a world where so much is happening. This INKLING, a pen-and -ink drawing SYMBOLIC OF DEA:LING WITH CHAOS was created here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina, is a graphic illustration that uses a fun example of -- tuning in to and finding balance with delight.
JUMP ROPE, FINDING BALANCE is one of my personal favorites for that reason. In fact, there was a palpable joie de vivre happening right there in my studio while I was working on this image-- part of a meditative/relaxing and envisioning technique using pen and ink. While later I painted the image, I saved the original for a series of "adult coloring book" collection here at FAA..
HER JUMP ROPE, FINDING BALANCE is all about the skip, twirl, nudge, and jolt when our personal dance comes together. I experienced this uplifting sense while creating this "neurographic" image. Hope it brings a joyful feeling to those who see it.
It was then and remains today quite captivating.
As David Bowie said, "I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring."
The image itself was inspired by my a photo a friend sent me of some kids playing. From there, it became a pen-and-ink sketch--a "neurographic" jaunt into the realm of possibility that I envison as "leaps and bounds" into moments of delight.
For me, creating images is a coalescing experience. I "lose track of time" while in the creative flow, and feel a deepening sense of calm. I love the idea of lyrical abstraction where I can blend geometric and organic influences. One technique I have turned to-(as you see here)- to work toward that goal is Neurographic art, a process rooted in psychology and akin to meditative practices. MEDIA:: Sketch for composition to paper. The result then captured as a photo and brought to create a JPEG. Finally, digital layering of the original materials.
Objective:: Narrative art with emotive content- that offers an opportunity for the viewer to interpret the story being told, and thus add to the story. Whether as a digital abstractionist, working as well on canvas and with photography to produce mixed media images, my hope is to engage the person who is looking at the image.
Symbolism :: Ever a sense of joy of life, transitions, new perceptions that evoke positive change, the embracing of an inner - symbolic-mythic- visual landscape that can reveal how disparate parts work together when visual impressions, founded on simple or more complex designs, build on a promising tale of life on Earth.
