Symbolism: The Hopi Cactus Rose in this duvet cover design symbolizes warmth, protection and endurance. The design also references solidarity with Earth and Mother Nature. The juxtaposition of color with changing light symbolizes positive change through envisioning different perspectives as the theme of the cactus flower design- change with compassion- emerges.

The Story: The cactus flower duvet cover design was inspired by a photo I took while visiting Georgia O’Keefe’s compound and museum in Abiquiu, New Mexico. I then created an oil pastel and again photographed the piece which turned to contemporary paintography art. You may note the thread of interest in nature that runs through what I paint on canvas, or on paper, or in a digital way. Here the appreciation of O’Keefe and her work in the southwest USA also pays respect to cultural elements- to First Nations and to the stories of the Hopi and Zuni peoples.
