“Cat’s Blue Moon”
Original photography of my vanished cat, Frankie as he looked longingly out the door at my studio - Asheville, North Carolina. After a long time waiting and hoping for his return, I painted his back-facing portrait on canvas, then created a digital rendering - contemporary paintography art.
The visual story emphasizes the fraught process of selection we—each of us-- face every day—that being the choice to look beyond to find possibility in what is around us despite the challenges.
Theme and Symbolism: : In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of texture and neutral hues with the blue light of the moon symbolizes constant change and uncertainty. Here is the story of longing for connection...a sense of duet with the moon... “It is the artist who realizes that there is a supreme force above him and works gladly away as a small apprentice under God's heaven.” ~ Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.
