Description
COLD NIGHT AND HOT CHOCLATE is a mixed media digital rendering that began one winter night in my styudio in Asheville, North Carolina. My/Fusion/Collage/Paintography has been described as slightly “off-kilter-modernist” in style. (I’m smiling.) But there is always a story to be told.
Here, one of my canvases (acrylic) borrows bits from a photo given to me by an artist friend (trees) --blended into the canvas using acrylic to tell a story of SURVIVAL.
SYMBOLISM: female form facing the cold facts
To create atmosphere, I accentuated the shapes with a series of ink inserts to create a mixed media collage. Next, I took a photo of that collage to Photoshop for digital manipulations (100s of layers) and rendering. Again, this narrative is about facing challenges-- a visual metaphor for life as we know it. It symbolizes engagement and possible joie de vivre.
This is narrative art with emotive content that refers not only to cold nights, but to the concept as it relates to breast cancer. . I hope that it offers an opportunity for the viewer to interpret the story being told, and thus add to the story.
NOTE: A portion of the sale of this piece goes to BREAST CANCER RESEARCH.
MORE ABOUT THE FUSION ART PROCESS ::
All of my fusion art and contemporary abstract images –whether impressionist or expressionist- feature many, many, many layers blended for "pasted effects" to reveal - through pattern, texture, and light- a visual narrative about life on our blue planet that welcome your interpretation.
* Generally, you will find any number of hidden characters in my art work. (((*:*))
ARTIST’S NOTE::
“These images may lead you to imaginative, emotive spaces where north and south meet east and west. A mindful philosophy and the use of technology can intersect and connect at a center to become vehicles for narratives about life on our blue planet. As we, each of us, and as a collection of living creatures face the fraught process of selection every day, may we find what is positive and possible.” ~ Zsanan
