Description
"Dasher's Greetings"
This card for the holiday season is figurative abstraction that began as a photo of a horse that I took one winter's day. Back in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina it emerged through digital paintography to become the image you see here.
This image was honored as a FEATURE

Theme and Symbolism: In this image the dashing horse is symbolic of the light of compassion emerging through darkness- of hope and "good energies." The strength and energy of the horse conveys encouragement. Here, the mixture of geometric shapes and black and white with just a tiny bit of red tossed in for emphasis enhance the mood of the scene.
In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of color with changing light also symbolizes positive change as we create new perspectives through the power of compassion.
Method: As I translated the photo into mixed media format, I reached out for the story and metaphor utilizing digital manipulation to create the narrative as texture, patterns, repetition, and "post-painterly-abstraction fauve-wave" bits to create a collage.
** This artwork is available in a variety of framed and unframed gallery-quality prints, home décor items such soft and durable duvet covers, fabric shower curtains, and throw pillows as well as greeting cards and weekender totes
.
