"Georgia- Out Her Window".
Original photography of an imagined scene as viewed from my memories and the very experience of being at Georgia O'Keeffe's studio in New Mexico. This has now become contemporary paintography art right here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina.
Theme and Symbolism: In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of color with changing light symbolizes positive change through being aware of and allowing different perspectives.

Story and Method: On my travels to Georgia O'Keeffe's studio and New Mexico the idea for this piece arrived. This very bold and colorful piece is a visual story of the fraught process of selection we - each of us - face every day - and works with wide-ranging influences Post-Painterly Abstraction, to Abstract Expressionist, even Fauvist movements.
In each case, I create from what is around me, or from an inner landscape arrived on a journey with an insistent muse and a photo hunt. I translate the photo into mixed media format, reaching out for the story or metaphor with digital manipulation to create the narrative as texture, patterns, repetition, and "post-painterly-abstraction fauve-wave" bits meet- sometimes even becoming a collage.
This artwork is available in a variety of framed and unframed gallery-quality prints, home décor items such soft and durable duvet covers, fabric shower curtains, and throw pillows as well as greeting cards and weekender totes.
