“I See You, Cat!”
This is an oil pastel and acrylic- mixed media piece- photographed to become paintography- a digital rendering. As I looked up from my easel to spy, at my studio window the bright green eyes of my neighbor cat here in Asheville, North Carolina appeared!
It’s not only a a reminder about little joys in life and the beauty, but about pet advocacy and sweet possibility we can find in what is around us....if we just are on the lookout.
Theme and Symbolism: : In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of color with changing light symbolizes positive change through envisioning different perspectives...even from the perspective of a cat ... Here is the story of longing for connection a tale of curiosity and compassion.

Story and Method: : I create from what is around me. I translate photos into paintography- an often mixed media, abstract expressionist digital rendering such as you see in this piece. I reach out for the story or metaphor using visual narrative.
This piece creates its narrative via texture, patterns, repetition with references to "lyrical abstraction.” These elements meet to offer a feeling of coming together as the collection of concepts and forms take shape.
