Description
MALALA came to life as allegorical art here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina, USA. This is a minimalist digital rendering- a simple, geometric dreamscape (inner landscape.) It hopes to offer space for art for art’s sake and symbolizes perceptions open to interpretation.
*Each image is entitled after and pays tribute to a Nobel Peace Prize Winner.
This digital rendering focuses on shape or texture repetition. Using multiple images of the same shape, it refers to repeated patterns such as vertical or horizontal blocks. These simple geometric forms are created in smooth areas with little or no shading and no obvious brushstrokes. Borders between areas of color are clear and determined. This is simply art for art's sake- no other message.

HOW IMAGES COME TOGETHER::
Most often, images are sketched, then painted with acrylics on canvas. I usually add interest using charcoal, pen-and-ink, or oil pastel or pasted bits. After all this comes together, I take a photo of that collage. Next, I transfer the composition to Photoshop for digital rendering.
Now, the process of layering and manipulation takes place. Sometimes this happens quickly, but more often, it takes place over days, or weeks... . Finally, the paintography image emerges. It can be a lengthy process, but, eventually, it comes together reminding me, as Picasso said, “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”
All of my fusion art and contemporary abstract images feature many, many, many layers blended for "pasted effects" to reveal - through pattern, texture, and light.
