Description
NECK TIED
"Neck Tied" is Conceptual Art in an abstract expressionist / figurative abstraction piece created right here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina that began as a PHOTO !
It tells a story of empowerment and the struggle for equality. The "tie around the neck" is symbolic of the experience of dominated/enslaved peoples throughout history and invites your interpretation. This narrative art in new media mixed media format – (such as combinations of pencil, ink, paint, photo work and textured applications) – and unfolds in a “collage” of color and texture.

THANK YOU for looking and considering my art work and images. Your time and your comments are prized.
Whether on paper, canvas, or as a digital rendering, the result is “contemporary mixed media art” that celebrates individual human images and the expression of unique qualities.
THIS is a “New Media Contemporary Narrative image. It may once have been combinations of pencil, ink, paint, photo work and textured applications, but now has evolved as a digital rendering . This computer art now emerges as a “collage” of color and texture .
In this piece, the juxtaposition of color with changing light represents positive change. Here is a story of connection energized by the impetus for change with compassion.
ARTIST’S NOTE :: In creating my visual narratives, exploring any number of alternative techniques, I hope to achieve a shared sense with you—one of being “in the moment.” That is why often, I look to simple images and pull from what is around me : I take sketches on to canvas, take a photo of it and make a mixed media digital rendering. Or I may just use my mouse (computer, that is) to “paint” a piece solely on a blank screen.
I hope you will find a connection here - linger awhile, talk with me about the elements - spaces, lines, textures and rhythms or themes. As we - each of us- and as a collection of living creatures - face the fraught process of selection every day- may we find what is positive and possible.
ZSANAN PHILOSOPHY: “NOT AN IMAGE BUT AN EXPERIENCE”--
Fine art purchases of this visual narrative will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation, this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
