“On the Wings of the Sun No.3 ”
Have you ever wondered how much we rely on the sun? I wondered that one morning as I took s a photo of an awesome sunrise over the mountainside. After an ink sketch that same sunrise took shape on canvas –(acrylic)- later to be photographed once more. At that point, it evolved into modern contemporary -(new mixed media-) paintography.
When I took yet another photo of the canvas - this time subjecting it to the whims of my muse-(and computer)- in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina, the result was this abstracted digital rendering.
Walt Whitman's verse on that potent observer of life on Earth- “I too am not a bit tamed, I too am untranslatable, I sound my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world” answered that question for me and was the inspiration for this series of abstract images. "I’ll tell you how the sun rose, a ribbon at a time," wrote Emily Dickinson. And so, thus inspired, I created this series...
