RED DOOR TO A SANTA FE SUNSET
"Red Door to Santa Fe Sunset" is about being authentically powerful. Bathed in red light, you ride with the horse, Lungta and turn to approach “the door to beyond” ... at sunset...near Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The story behind this: One morning I found myself at Georgia O'Keefe's studios outside of Santa Fe, in Abiquiu, New Mexico. It was very early and no one else was around. I took a photo as I imagined what it might be like to walk through her door to see her working there.
Later, I tried to capture the sense of place on canvas . That was the image that later emerged as you and I opened a door to a Santa Fe sunset... an Abstract Expressionist piece. I used digital manipulation to create the terrain with added texture, patterns, repetition, and "fauve -wave" components. The juxtaposition of emphatic color represents opening the way or door to change with compassion.
