SYMBOLISM & STORY: This visual story emphasizes what we appear to see, and what we come to see upon closer inspection. It is symbolic of introspection within the fraught contemporary process of selection we -- each of us --face every day. Is this orange cat looking toward one butterfly? Or is the cat “instructing” the observer to look beyond the apparent?


Certainly, the garden flowers are eye-catching, but Rusty-the-Cat has spotted purple butterflies in their midst. It's a fresh sighting like the fraught process of "seeing anew" that we -- each of us -- come across every day. What is unexpected or extraordinary may arrive in the play of light and shadow in a juxtaposition of brilliant colors.This modern impressionist piece-(from "Oliver and Friends" series)- speaks of joining the conversation about change with compassion.


ZSANAN PHILOSOPHY & ARTIST’S NOTE

“NOT AN IMAGE BUT AN EXPERIENCE” In creating my visual narratives, exploring any number of alternative techniques, I hope to achieve a shared sense with you—one of being “in the moment.” That is why often, I look to simple images and pull from what is around me. I take sketches on to canvas, take a photo of it and make a mixed media digital rendering. Or I may just use my mouse (computer, that is) to “paint” a piece solely on a blank screen.
TO COLLECTORS: This image works well as a framed (or unframed) gallery-quality print at home or business. It is a statement piece— a soft remarkable duvet cover, a charming fabric shower curtain, a throw pillow that adds a pop of color— even a greeting card you won’t find at the grocery store. And give yourself the gift of art as a weekender tote or fun tank top. ... (((*:*)))

METHOD:: Modern Impressionism, Abstract Expressionism, Narrative, and Digital Paintography with a Twist. Look for interpretations of outer/inner landscapes with a persistent focus on patterns and bold or unusual color. Photo and digital manipulation mostly NOT an accurate interpretation, seek to explore the essence of the subject. I move shapes, colors, forms, textures, layering and the overall gestalt to achieve an effect. Expect glimpses of reality from unusual perspectives. Image-making prompted by nature.
Fine art purchases of this visual narrative will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation, this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
