Safari- The Giraffes of Turkana
Painted in the extraordinary palette of Lake Turkana, Kenya, Africa- the cyans and jade green for which the Lake is known, this image came together in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina.
But it started well before that in a lengthy process I smilingly refer to as my "art-tech-block-and-carve technique." The process actually brings together my original art- ( pastel, acrylic and/or watercolor work)- plus photos to "arrive, “ as a *collage - having been captured via my smartphone. Thus translated, I begin the next steps. The addition of layers and layers (probably more than 100!) create the resulting JPEG into the digital rendering you see.
*Collage- inspired by nature brings together elements both abstract and true to the natural world. My wish is that you will find these contemporary photo-paintings reflect an awesome energy. Such is life in all of its sometimes “weird glory.”
