SEAWORTHY- Breakthrough,

No. 3-- THIS IMAGE IS 50% DIGITAL-with a bits of hand-drawn /collage and pen-and-ink work. It was created here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina, USA.

Abstract narrative. A transparent sail crosses the horizon--a dark freighter comes into view. The sail pierces the sky as a pinpoint of light appears on the canvas of life. A new dawn is happening beyond the mists and fog.
Here is a BREAKTHROUGH. Impetus to change how we choose "sail" the world. "To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete." ~Bucky Fuller

Here expressed is the nudge and jolt when elements come together with a sense of joie de vivre. This image came to life-- inspired by my love of oceans, seas, rivers and amazing bodies of water and being with them. A jaunt into the realm of possibility... .

SYMBOLISM: Unfolding Potential

For me, creating images is a coalescing experience. The nudge and jolt I mentioned happens when I bring together elements into one piece. This allurement reminds me of what David Bowie said, "I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring."

In fact, I do "lose track of time" while in the creative flow, and feel a deepening sense of calm. I love the process of lyrical abstraction where I can blend geometric and organic influences.

Objective:: Narrative art with emotive content- that offers an opportunity for the viewer to interpret the story being told, and thus add to the story. Whether as a digital abstractionist, working as well on canvas and with photography to produce mixed media images, my hope is to engage the person who is looking at the image.

Symbolism :: Ever a sense of joy of life, transitions, new perceptions that evoke positive change, the embracing of an inner - symbolic-mythic- visual landscape that can reveal how disparate parts work together when visual impressions, founded on simple or more complex designs, build on a promising tale of life on Earth.
