This abstract image is entitled "SOLO" came together here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina. A combination of my photos and pastel/acrylic/watercolor work, it "arrived" when I used my smartphone to capture the JPEG then added layers (probably about 100) to create the digital rendering you see.

SYMBOLISM: A narrative or reflection on isolation, here- one person- alone, still can carry the light of hope even in the starkest of times.

Whether as a digital abstractionist, working as well on canvas and with photography to produce mixed media images, my hope is to engage the viewer. My thought is that visual impressions, founded on simple or more complex designs, can carry a narrative that can build on an promising tale of everyday living.

SOLO also symbolizes a sense of joy of life, transitions, new perceptions that evoke positive change, the embracing of an inner - symbolic-mythic- visual landscape. This piece may have a particular appeal as the visual narrative reveals that even disparate parts CAN work together.
