“ Surfing the Oddities”
This another digital paintography piece in my Armchair Greetings series designed to address difficult times and challenges. . This series features my hand-drawn figures and black pencil frames. The effect of the combination may remind you of cartoons or even tiny abstract pieces. The colorful bits actually popped in from works in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina.
Designed as statement art cards, these pieces can also serve for a bit of humor in tiny spaces around your home or office and make delightful conversation starters even during very challenging times. Between you and me, I had to laugh out loud, when I saw the expression OLIVER THE CAT wears in this image-- tail and eyes alive with opinion..
I used bold colors to create a lasting visual impression. You may see a nod to the Fauvists, Henri Matisse and Toulouse Lautrec- and comic book artists such as Steve Ditko.
