Purchase a tote bag featuring the mixed media "Swimming Turtle Island" by Zsanan Studio. Our tote bags are made from soft, durable, poly-poplin fabric and include a 1" black strap for easy carrying on your shoulder. All seams are double-stitched for added durability. Each tote bag is machine-washable in cold water and is printed on both sides using the same image.

SWIMMING TURTLE ISLAND
This image began as a neurographic piece first created in pen-and-ink-( black and white) -then worked with oil pastles , watercolor and a bit of acrylic to create a mixed media piece here in my studio in Asheville, N.C.
SYMBOLISM: It soon took on a symbolic reference to Mother Earth (Turtle Island) when I noticed a turtle coming to the surface as I painted the image in watercolors and used acrylics to add texture to the piece.
When I photographed the image, it seem to release a totally new interpretation-- deepening the emergence of an imaginative being who had something to say. In this case, it was about how to live companiably as we "swim" the waters of earth.
This reminded me of the Native American/Iroquois creation story where earth was the ruler of a great island which floated peacefully in space-- until --the sky fell to cover it with water, a "great cloud sea."
As always, my theme is lyrical abstraction--eclectic coll...
