"Thinking of You No. 3"

This digital paintography started as a simple line drawing . Later I took a photo of the embellished sketch here in my Asheville, North Carolina studio. . As it evolved, I found myself smiling out loud as I looked at the expression on the cat's face.and the flower on the tip of a tail.. I hope it does the same for someone who comes across it, too..

I have found that paintography is one mixed medium that can be useful for creating emotional impact via visual impression or narrative.

Symbolism: The cat represents outreach and caring in this piece. Additionally, you may see references - the flowers, the gift a a flower on the cat tail, the comfy chair- to friendship in an atmosphere where all are welcome. And there is that bit of humor.

Method: I translate the photo into mixed media format. I try to reach out for the story or metaphor with digital manipulation. The objective in this piece was to create a narrative where texture, patterns, repetition, and a combination of "lyrical abstraction to figurative-abstraction to graphic design bits meet- to provide a sense of inclusion for the viewer.

In this paintography piece, this comes together as an expression of positive change. Change with compassion.
