UNE FLEUR No. 1
This image, UNE FLEUR (one flower) evolved from my photo of a single, beautiful flower, the centerpiece for a still life painting in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina. The finished painting was photographed again and then became contemporary paintography inspired by the thread of interest that runs through what I paint on canvas, or on paper, or in a digital way—the compelling experience of nature.
The visual story emphasizes “The Fraught Process of Selection” we—each of us-- face every day—that being the choice to look for possibility in what is around us.
This image pinpoints the aspiration for world healing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
