Wind and Water No. 2 Treasures of the Tide Pool


The WINDS AND WATERS series came to life here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina, USA. This is a dreamscape (inner landscape.)-- a collage from MIXED MEDIA bits inspired by my photos of the coastal waters of North and South Carolina, USA--images sketched then turned to watercolors. I took photos of the watercolors, added more photo-bits to the original watercolor- then created this digital rendering-- a contemporary photo-painting.


The images are both abstract AND true to the natural world to reflect the idea that," Humanity dwells in a divine milieu." ~ Teilhard de Chardin

WINDS AND WATERS No. 2-“Treasures of the Tide Pool” may remind the viewer of that human space of looking deeply and beneath the surface for value. It symbolizes new perspectives and new perceptions that make possible a change and invite joie de vivre.

Fusion Art embraces a visual landscape most appealing and may remind artist and viewer that disparate parts can work together.

HOW IMAGES COME TOGETHER::

Most often, images are sketched, then painted with acrylics on canvas. I usually add interest using charcoal, pen-and-ink, or oil pastel or pasted bits. After all this comes together, I take a photo of that collage. Next, I transfer the composition to Photoshop for digital rendering.

Now, the process of layering and manipulation takes place. Sometimes this happens quickly, but more often, it takes place over days, or weeks... . Finally, the paintography image emerges. It can be a lengthy process, but, eventually, it comes together reminding me, as Picasso said, “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”

Generally, you will find in my fusion art collages any number of hidden characters.

All of my fusion art and contemporary abstract images feature many, many, many layers blended for "pasted effects" to reveal - through pattern, texture, and light- a visual narrative about life on our blue planet that welcome your interpretation.
