THANK YOU.
Story: One morning I found myself at Georgia O'Keeffe's studios outside of Santa Fe, in Abiquiu, New Mexico. It was very early and no one else was around. I took a photo and did a quick sketch . I imagined what the great artist O’Keeffe might have seen from her window from day to night. Later, I tried to capture the sense of place on canvas . This is a digital rendering of the image that emerged as "Window on Santa Fe," a post painterly abstract expressionist piece. This canvas is in a private collection now.
Symbolism-Story: : In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of the color of dark to midnight blue with cream and darkest red symbolizes positive change through envisioning different perspectives. There is a sense –that possibly through the vigilant eyes of the artist in each of us- that observation of and care for the things around us can lead to mindfulness and compassion.
Method: : I create from what is around me. I translate photos into mixed media often abstract expressionist digital renderings such as you see in this piece. I reach out for the story or metaphor to share in a narrative via texture, patterns, repetition that meet in the feeling of collage.
This piece creates its narrative via texture, patterns, repetition, and abstraction with Fauve bits that meet in the feeling of an integrated collection of concepts and forms... with a feeling of collage.
** This artwork is available in a variety of framed and unframed gallery-quality prints, home décor items such soft and durable duvet covers, fabric shower curtains, and throw pillows as well as greeting cards and weekender totes.
