"WINDOW ON SANTA FE"
This is bold and beautiful post-painterly abstract expressionist work as created in Zsanan Studio in Asheville, North Carolina...but..it began long before that..as a photograph! This is No.4 in a series depicting light seen from the viewer’s window on one day in Santa Fe New Mexico.
The story behind this: One morning I found myself at Georgia O'Keefe's studios outside of Santa Fe, in Abiquiu, New Mexico. It was very early and no one else was around. I took a photo as I imagined what the great artist might have seen from her window.
Later, I tried to capture the sense of place on canvas . This is the image that emerged as "Window on Santa Fe," a Post-Painterly- Abstract Expressionist piece. ((*:*))...I used digital manipulation to create the terrain with added texture, patterns, repetition, and "fauve -wave" components.
