Description
“Yogi Cat Nap”
“Yogi Cat Nap” began as a photo of "Huck" who is Val-Wen’s adopted cat. Through a process of digital maneuvering that included collage work, the photo eventually took shape as modern contemporary -(new mixed media-) paintography. Next, the whims of my muse-(and computer)- seemed to prompt the Yogi Berra saying. All this took place right here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina, the result being this humorous and friendly reminder about joie de vivre.
So here's Huck, Val-Wen’s cat, and a message sure to give the recipient (including YOU) a smile whether that's for ANY occasion, be it special, or not-so-special, or even "just-because." And here too is a token of affection and one way to share joie de vivre.

ZSANAN STUDIO NOTES:: I hope you will find a connection here - linger awhile, possibly start a conversation about the elements - spaces, lines, textures and rhythms or themes that speak to you. As we - each of us- (and also as a collection of living creatures) - face the fraught process of selection every day- may we find what is positive and possible
When you visit my website or studio in Asheville, North Carolina – you may discover that I love to tell stories- visual stories. My narrative art, in mixed media – (pencil, ink, paint, photo work and textured applications) – often unfolds as a collage. There is an emphasis on color and texture, and hidden bits to surprise the viewer. Whether on paper, canvas, or as a digital rendering - “contemporary mixed media art” -the purpose, the raison d'être is to celebrate life.
METHOD:: I create visual narratives from what is around me- make sketches into canvas work, then take a photo creating a mixed media digital rendering such as what you see in this piece. I reach out for the story and metaphor via texture, patterns, repetition - a feeling of lyrical abstraction of elements offering a sense of collaboration - a collection of concepts and forms taking shape.
As we - each of us- (and also as a collection of living creatures) - face the fraught process of selection every day- may we find what is positive and possible.
"Perception is everything in art. The artist goal is to influence the viewer to see the world as the artist does. This can change the viewers mood, their mind, their outlook - even if only for a limited time." Lutz Baar
FOR YOUR DÉCOR AND/OR LIFESTYLE: This image works well as a framed (or unframed) gallery-quality print at home or business. It is a statement piece— a soft remarkable duvet cover, a charming fabric shower curtain, a throw pillow that adds a pop of color— even a greeting card you won’t find at the grocery store. And give yourself the gift of art as a weekender tote or fun tank top. ... (((*:*)))
