"THE WAVE"- created in my studio in Asheville, N.C.--is an 'art-tech-block-and-carve image that takes my original sketch and acrylic on canvas into a collage of hundreds of digitally-rendered layers 'fused' into this image- inspired by the FEELING of riding a multidimensional wave.
For me, creating images is a coalescing experience. There is that nudge and jolt when I bring together elements into one piece that reminds me of what David Bowie said, "I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring." I "lose track of time" while in the creative flow, and feel a deepening sense of calm.
I love the idea of lyrical abstraction where I can blend geometric and organic influences. One technique I have turned to to work toward that goal is Neurographic art, a process rooted in psychology and akin to meditative practices. For more info: https://www.neurographica.us
