“Reflection on a Red Plaid Tablecloth “
“Reflection on a Red Plaid Tablecloth “ is the result of simply being with- (meditating on) - a huge rose in a vase that sat in my studio here in Asheville, North Carolina. This piece asks us to separate color from its usual representational and realistic perspective and now takes its meaning and impetus from linear lines mixed with organic shapes and a multitude of shades of red.
This is a post-painterly abstract paintography piece in a Square format is a digital rendering from my original photography . It continues the thread of interest in nature that runs through what I paint on canvas, or on paper, or in a digital way. The visual story emphasizes the fraught process of selection we—each of us-- face every day—that being the choice to look for beauty and possibility in what is around us.
