“Sails in the Mist”
“Sails in the Mist” captures the blue-green beauty of the water. This piece evolved from a photo taken while I was watching sailboats race near the Puget Sound in Friday Harbor, Washington, USA. This is abstract expressionist paintography- a digital rendering from my original photography as viewed anew in my studio here in Asheville, North Carolina.
This contemporary paintography art continues the thread of interest in nature that runs through what I paint on canvas, or on paper, or in a digital way. The visual story emphasizes the fraught process of selection we—each of us-- face every day—that being the choice to look for beauty and possibility in what is around us.
