"Cupcake Spaceships" -a flight for fun- C’est joie de vivre! This series about simple pleasures, celebrations, happy moments is for you—and “baked” right in to a bold and beautiful CUPCAKE!

CUPCAKES –(a 10++ part abstract expressionist series)- arrived by imagination right here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina. The series began as a PHOTO ! of one wonderful cupcake given to me by a dear friend. It is “frosted” with metaphor expressed via texture, patterns, repetition.

I like to think you will find a feeling of lyrical possibility in the elements. Possibly, there will unfold that sense of collaboration that happens when shape and color narrate the concept. ( I create visual narratives from what is around me- make sketches into canvas work, then take a photo creating a mixed media digital rendering such as what you see in this piece.)

Symbolism: In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of color with changing light symbolizes positive change through delving into a number of creative perspectives. I tend to hide certain symbols/images within the work. In CUPCAKES bee on the lookout for chocolate drops, red candy hearts, and merry-go-round horses. Reach out for your story there.
