"Autumn Dreams Sailing the Moon " (series) was created at my computer right here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina . It evolved from and was inspired by photos I took near my studio. It made its way from photo to sketch to canvas to photo again and then, through photo-manipulation – (and my imagination) - to tell a story of the powerful reach of the moon. This story invites your interpretation.

I painted this image using digital art techniques. Even though the image may appear as if it is one of my hand-painted canvases, it is not. This image was, in fact, drawn onto a blank digital canvas! Long ago (in virtual time) it may have been inspired by a photo—but that was before my virtual muse got involved. This digital image, no longer identifiable as a photo, has evolved into Contemporary Impressionist, Mixed Media Aether Art!

Using my “brush”—(handy mouse computer, not the studio muse observed by the cat) Over the years, I’ve been working out methods --in both abstract expressionist and Contemporary Impressionist styles—that in many ways look almost like my hand-painted canvases.

This new media –contemporary narrative art– (that may have once been combinations of pencil, ink, paint, photo work and textured applications) – now unfolds as computer art in a “collage” of color and texture, This “contemporary mixed media art” celebrates nature and highlights joie de vivre. In this piece, the juxtaposition of color with changing light symbolizes positive change. Represented here is a story of connection, an impetus for change with compassion.

As we - each of us- (and as a collection of living creatures) - face the fraught process of selection every day- may we find what is positive and possible. "Perception is everything in art. BEHIND THE SCENES WITH VIEWERS::

I hope you will find a connection here - linger awhile, possibly start a conversation about the elements - spaces, lines, textures and rhythms or themes that speak to you. As we - each of us- (and also as a collection of living creatures) - face the fraught process of selection every day- may we find what is positive and possible.

I love to create visual narratives exploring any number of alternative techniques to achieve a shared sense, with YOU, of being “in the moment” -- (composite and/or multiple layering of images-photo-manipulation and finally digital rendering)--

Often, from what is around me, I take sketches on to canvas, take a photo of it and make a mixed media digital rendering. Or I may just use my house (computer, that is ) to “paint” a piece solely on a blank screen (Aether Art.) I hope you will join me in reaching out for a narrative expressed in texture, patterns, repetition - a feeling of lyrical abstraction of elements offering that very sense of collaboration - a collection of concepts and forms taking shape.
