Description
"LIGHT TOMORROW WITH TODAY" from the verses of Elizabeth Barret Browning who inspires so many artists with her joie de vivre. This mixed media image came to life here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina, USA.
As I searched for a way to reach out to others in ANY season and for so many moments in life, I turned to this Collage/Paintography techique where I "fused" watercolor, line drawings, a bit of canvas in a slightly “off-kilter-modern impressionist” style.
Here, one of my canvases (acrylic) borrows bits from a photo I took of a cardinal at the studio door. This photo was blended into the canvas using oil pastels. I accentuated the shapes with a series of ink inserts to create a mixed media collage.
Next, I took a photo of that collage to Photoshop for digital manipulations (100s of layers) and rendering.
LOVE ALWAYS--this is a visual narrative with emotive content. I hope it offers an opportunity for the viewer to interpret the story being told, and even add to the story.
Symbolism :: Ever a sense of joy of life, transitions, new perceptions that evoke positive change, the embracing of an inner - symbolic-mythic- visual landscape that can reveal how disparate parts work together when visual impressions, founded on simple or more complex designs, build on a promising tale of life on Earth.
