“TAWAKKOL KARMAN- Her Presence Series”

Original from a photo of Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Tawakkol Karman as viewed from the artist’s interpretation and taken into pastels. I took a photo of that piece and digitized it. Here are layers upon layers in a digital rendering now seen as contemporary mixed media art.

This image is one of the HER PRESENCE series. It continues to weave a thread of interest in change with compassion that runs through what I paint on canvas, or on paper, or in a digital way. It recognizes the unfolding awareness of the multi-dimensional connection we share with one and other.

The visual story emphasizes the fraught process of selection we each face every day and pays special tribute to the courage of Tawakkol Karman, the Nobel Prize winning journalist who braved the most challenging situations to create avenues for communication for change with compassion.

Her work for “making the world a better place” is the impetus for creating this visual statement, as a bold and colorful paintography piece.

This image intends to express the birth of and the enduring quality of the “divine feminine” mystique. Through digital manipulation the image seems to deepen. The story of a “Her Presence” emerges as texture, patterns, repetition, and a "figurative-abstraction –modern-impressionist wave" becomes this contemporary collage.

Bold colors and distinct shapes --both geometric and organic --represent the musical emergence of beautiful feminine voices speaking truth to power and the reminder of an old Tao saying: “ The journey is the reward.”
