THANK YOU for looking and considering my art work and images. Your time and your comments are prized.
This image began as a plein air oil pastel. When I took a photo of the image and subjected it to the whims of my muse-(and computer)- in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina the result was this digital rendering. ... It continues a theme that runs through my images: Nature, its power and influence on living creatures as we consider the fraught process of selection we—each of us— face daily: The challenge to become, as Thomas Berry noted, .." The Conscious Voice of Nature.”
*THANKS to Colleagues and Collectors for Comments, Likes, Faves and the accompanying Good Energy.
TO COLLECTORS: This image works well as a framed (or unframed) gallery-quality print at home or business. It is a statement piece— a soft remarkable duvet cover, a charming fabric shower curtain, a throw pillow that adds a pop of color— even a greeting card you won’t find at the grocery store. And give yourself the gift of art as a weekender tote or fun tank top. ... (((*:*)))
THEME AND SYMBOLISM:: In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of color with changing light symbolizes positive change through envisioning creative perspectives. Here the story of longing for connection highlights an impetus for change with compassion. This is a theme that runs through what I paint on canvas, or on paper, or in a digital way.
BACK-STORY: : I create visual narratives from what is around me- then create a mixed media/digital rendering such as you see in this piece. I reach out for the story and metaphor in a visual narrative via bold oil pastel strokes, vivid color, texture, patterns, repetition that meet in a feeling of lyrical abstraction. These elements offer a sense of coming together - a collection of concepts and forms that take shape.
METHOD:: Modern Impressionism, Abstract Expressionism, Narrative, and Digital Paintography with a Twist.
Look for interpretations of outer/inner landscapes with a persistent focus on patterns and bold or unusual color. Photo and digital manipulation mostly NOT an accurate interpretation, seek to explore the essence of the subject. I move shapes, colors, forms, textures, layering and the overall gestalt to achieve an effect. Expect glimpses of reality from unusual perspectives. Image-making prompted by nature.
