"Balance in Nature"

From my original photography of cactus flowers in the high dessert of the USA Southwest as translated to contemporary paintography in my studio in the mountains near Asheville, North Carolina. . This is an example of post-painterly abstract expressionism inspired by nature's beauty and thorny bits, it is an example of the thread of interest runs through what I paint on canvas, or on paper, or in a digital way.

This visual story with its references to Native Peoples emphasizes the fraught process of selection we—each of us-- face every day—that being the choice to look (as nature teaches) for possibility in what is around us.

DESIGN NOTES: Textile Art by Zsanan. You may have noticed how small wonders happen when you add richness and depth to a space with textile art patterns- and rich color palettes that are typical of my textile designs-- along with the more classic neutrals.

Symbolism: The pale cyan and mellow orange color palette in this piece symbolize tenderness and strength. Additionally, there is (hopefully) the impression of sunrise and/or sunset....perhaps, a gentle reminder of our mutual journey on Earth.

This piece creates its narrative via texture, patterns, repetition with references to "lyrical abstraction.” These elements meet to offer a feeling of coming together as the collection of concepts and forms take shape.
