"The Legend of Lungta" is an original painting on canvas as well as contemporary digital art. It is narrative or story-art referencing a time- well before there were trains and cars and planes- a time when the horse was the fastest way for people to get around.
So unfolds the story, now the legend of Windhorse- a creature fast as the wind and symbolic of swift action and the personal ability to boost vitality on many levels.
The image of the horse came from a photo I captured of a mighty horse in the mountains of North Carolina to become digital paintography. This image is No. 4 in a series. I began with a very simple line drawing - minimalist with a pastel reference. From there I added bold strokes and the intensity of black and white graphics. Next came the unusual colors and broad brush strokes of reminiscent of Fauvism.
Moving from geometric abstract artwork to bold colors and more evident brush strokes, as I do in all my paintings, I really wanted to create a lasting visual impression of an emergence of awareness of collaboration- depict the growing spirit for change with compassion and a contemporary reflection of the ancient Tibetan practice of letting the wind run with prayer flags -Lungta!

a side note: Prayer Flags and WINDHORSE .
If you are intrigued with “the unlimited energy of basic goodness” and “inherent wakefulness,” you might already be familiar with prayer flags flying high Himalayans (and around the globe)- prayer flags that beckon increasing energy, joy and delight. with a horse and rider imprinted at the center. Before there were trains and cars and planes, the horse was the fastest way for people to get around. Thus the horse depicts swift resolution- Lungta or Windhorse - your own ability to boost vitality on many levels- a positive force for fortuitous experiences that come easily, along with good fortune, and many blessings on the wind... ..
