" You Light Up My Life!"
The original form of this piece was a pen and ink sketch- which inspired became a pastel . That was photographed and digitally rendered...all of which was inspired by my wonderful dog on our nightly walk in Asheville, North Carolina. This piece then is a combination of the above in and abstract expressionist, graphics,pop art statement.
Symbolism and the Story : This image arrived one very late night. I was working out how to express solidarity. Could gentle humor somehow soften a life situation that is challenging, I wondered? How can an artist reach out to provide a "light moment" in times of distress?
These bold and comical characters responded. The visual story emphasizes the fraught process of selection we—EACH OF US-- face every day—. Here is a place of solidarity and delight . A natural connection.
