"Sun Basket"

From a series honoring Apollo, Sun God here is digital paintography. This piece depicts light seen from the viewer’s window on one day in at the shore.It was photographed then digitally rendered here in my studio in Asheville, N.C.The piece became a series as I imagined standing at a window at various times of the day.

Story and Method: It was very early and no one else was around. Henry J. Maher, the Elder sent me his photo impression and I tried to capture the sense of place -at first- on canvas . I photographed the result and discovered an Abstract Expressionist piece. I used digital manipulation to create the terrain with added texture, patterns, repetition, and "fauve -wave" components.


Symbolism:The juxtaposition of emphatic color represents change with compassion. The changing light – from morning to night- symbolizes change and the possibilities for understanding different times, moments and perspectives.
