JOY OF SPRING IN THE MOTHER TREE
~from the Neurographic Series-
taken into digital rendering

NEUROGRAPHIC ART - this image, hand drawn with pen and ink here in my studio in Asheville, N.C., to become a mixed media experiment . It was hand drawn, watercolors, oil pastels on paper- to digital. In the collage, I attempt to tell a story of the excitement of new energies of springtime as they express themselves in a single tree.

Here I am hoping you might feel the "zest" that a tree feels.

NEUROGRAPHIC ART--"Also known as doodling, neurographic art is a technique, which comprises drawing freeform lines or 'neuro lines. ' These are meant to enable the connection between the conscious and unconscious, gaining access to the inner self by using a specific algorithm or method.":

As always, my theme is lyrical abstraction--an eclectic collage-- fusion art, mixed media, simultaneously sparse and exciting because it combines textures and shapes of recognizable objects into patterns that spark the imagination.

It is an effort visually to narrate the place --beyond time -- where an angular abstract landscape can harmonize with the curving natural and logic meets emotion --in the space of possibility –first, from a sketch-- then to watercolor and/or acrylic on paper or canvas --then, photographed and digitally rendered.

MEDIA:: Sketch for composition to canvas and/or paper, sometimes, oil pastels, sometimes acrylic paint. The result then captured as a photo and brought to create a JPEG. Finally, digital layering of the original materials.

Objective:: Narrative art with emotive content- that offers an opportunity for the viewer to interpret the story being told, and thus add to the story. Whether as a digital abstractionist, working as well on canvas and with photography to produce mixed media images, my hope is to engage the person who is looking at the image.

Symbolism :: Ever a sense of joy of life, transitions, new perceptions that evoke positive change, the embracing of an inner - symbolic-mythic- visual landscape that can reveal how disparate parts work together when visual impressions, founded on simple or more complex designs, build on a promising tale of life on Earth.
